It’s important to find an orthodontist that only provides the highest quality care. Here are some of the important questions to ask when selecting an orthodontist.
What Are the Providers’ Qualifications?
A qualified orthodontic specialist must first receive his or her doctorate in general dentistry, the same as your family dentist. They must complete an additional two or three years of graduate training in their specialty – orthodontics. As a specialist, the orthodontist is required to limit their practice exclusively to orthodontics.
Are the Doctors There When You Need Them?
We offer our patients three office locations to best meet their needs. In the event of an orthodontic emergency, we can be reached by the emergency pager number from the answering machine at the main office. Our office hours are Monday 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. On Fridays, the office is closed as our staff travels to our office in South Pittsburg. This allows flexibility to meet your needs and to accommodate your busy schedule.
Are the Orthodontic Staff Members Properly Licensed and Trained in Orthodontics?
A qualified orthodontic assistant has his or her Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification indicating that he or she has completed specialized training and passed a board examination. After receipt of the RDA certification, he or she can work toward Orthodontic Dental Assistant (ODA) certification. This involves additional course work as well as passing a national board exam, indicating exceptional knowledge and skills in orthodontics.
Does the Orthodontist Use Advanced Diagnostic Techniques and Modern Technology?
In the recent past, there have been many advances made in the science of orthodontics. These advances have made the treatment more efficient. We use state-of-the-art technology that allows us to treat our patients both more comfortably and conveniently than ever before. Special appliances and “memory” wires allow for fewer visits and faster treatment.
What Is The Level of Service?
When committing to orthodontic treatment, you are entering a long-term and special relationship with the orthodontist and the entire staff. We have found that technical skills and good communication go hand in hand to create the best possible result. Along with attention to every technical detail, we believe that it is important to treat each patient with fun and good humor in a pleasant atmosphere.
