What Are the Providers’ Qualifications?
A qualified orthodontic specialist must first receive his or her doctorate in general dentistry, the same as your family dentist. They must complete an additional two or three years of graduate training in their specialty – orthodontics. As a specialist, the orthodontist is required to limit their practice exclusively to orthodontics.
Are the Doctors There When You Need Them?
We offer our patients three office locations to best meet their needs. In the event of an orthodontic emergency, we can be reached by the emergency pager number from the answering machine at the main office. Our office hours are Monday 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. On Fridays, the office is closed as our staff travels to our office in South Pittsburg. This allows flexibility to meet your needs and to accommodate your busy schedule.
Are the Orthodontic Staff Members Properly Licensed and Trained in Orthodontics?
A qualified orthodontic assistant has his or her Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification indicating that he or she has completed specialized training and passed a board examination. After receipt of the RDA certification, he or she can work toward Orthodontic Dental Assistant (ODA) certification. This involves additional course work as well as passing a national board exam, indicating exceptional knowledge and skills in orthodontics.
